HOUSES, flats and cottages across Essex have been snapped up at auction.
They were among 145 lots listed across southern England in the latest auction held by Clive Emson Auctioneers, which ended on Thursday, May 7.
In Colchester, a fully let property at 29 East Street, arranged as five flats, was sold for £255,000 freehold.
Gabrielle Giedraite, auction appraiser at Clive Emson, said: “We had strong pre-sale interest in this five-flat residential investment, currently let at £32,050 per annum, which we considered perfect for continued investment.
“Our buyer agreed and we had a strong result for the property located close to the city centre and a short distance from the railway station, as well as the city’s amenities, pubs and restaurants.”
Each flat is let at monthly rents between £500 and £575.

In Witham, a commercial unit with a self-contained flat above, located at 85/85A Newland Street, also found a buyer.
The Witham property, which occupies a prominent position on the town’s main shopping road, was listed with a guide price of £225,000 to £235,000 freehold but sold prior to the auction.
The building includes commercial space across ground and basement levels, with residential accommodation above, reached via a metal staircase at the rear.
Paul Bridgeman, director at Clive Emson, said: “We had strong pre-sale interest and, working alongside our Joint Auctioneers Fenn Wright, this shop and split level flat in Witham received an offer that the client decided to accept before sale took place.”
