The Potteries in Broadstone and Ferndown Manor both hosted football-themed activities as part of Care UK’s Goal-den Moments initiative, aimed at sparking memories and intergenerational fun during the summer of sport.
Ben and Alan from Poole Town Football Club attended The Potteries’ summer fete, where residents and guests enjoyed paddling pool football and stalls alongside a barbecue.
Profits from the raffle and tombola went to The Gale Foundation Trust – a founding sponsor of the club’s kids’ initiative, which delivers 172 free football places to local children every week.

Baz John Wheeler-Cherry, a resident at The Potteries, said: “I really enjoyed the World Cup day.
“I loved being with my friends and being in the football paddling pool.”
At Ferndown Manor, the maintenance team built a human table football pitch for a lively tournament.
Resident Trevor Birtwistle said: “I used to play football with my children when they were younger, as well as competitive matches with my older brothers.
“I had a great day, and I loved supporting on the sidelines.
“The half-time treats were fantastic too.”
Both homes are run by Care UK and offer residential, nursing, dementia, and short-term respite care, and are part of Care UK’s wider community engagement efforts.
