UK’s fourth largest city sees more than twice as many searches as nearest rival
Leeds is top of the table of cities that Britons want to relocate to, according to analysis of monthly search volumes by esure.
It suggests that the city receives more than double the number of monthly searches per capita (15,190) than the second most popular city Bradford (6,331), or the third, Perth (5,701).
The company analysed the volume of search terms such as “living in (city)” and “relocate to (city)” to identify the most popular locations.
The fourth largest city
Leeds is the UK’s fourth-largest city, with a population of over 510,000, strong transport links, shopping at Trinity Leeds, and an average house price of £246,293, according to esure.
Meanwhile, Bradford has an average house price of £189,396, making it one of the more affordable cities to buy a home in the UK. It was crowned the City of Culture in 2025.
Finally, Perth has an average house price of £228,534 and an average monthly rent of £753.
A spokesperson at esure said: “From the data, it’s clear that we’re seeing an interest in a range of cities across the UK, with locations like Leeds ranking highly. This suggests that renters and buyers are exploring a variety of well-connected and more affordable areas, alongside established hubs such as the South East and London boroughs.”
