PLANS for a new UK village featuring a number of affordable homes have officially been unveiled.
The proposal outlines a “village community” development built across eight fields, featuring green spaces and play areas alongside the residential spaces.
The development, known as Penn an Vre, will include up to 300 new homes, along with a community hub, parking, landscaping, and public realm works.
Persimmon Homes has applied for outline planning permission to build a “village community”, connected via internal estate roads.
If approved, the new village will be constructed on the outskirts of a Cornish town, on land west of Latchbrook Farm, Trematon, near Saltash.
A planning statement says: “Penn an Vre will be a village community for up to 300 new high-quality homes.
“Drawing on local influences and surrounding resources, this village will offer residents a place to live within a beautiful landscape at the ‘Gateway to Cornwall’.”
According to the blueprint, the eight-field site will provide a “strategic urban extension” to the west of Saltash.
Homes in Penn an Vre would be served by bus links into the town centre, as well as further destinations, including Plymouth city centre, Liskeard, and Callington.
Plans outline the 300 new residential units, which would range from apartments to four-bed homes, with 30 per cent provided as affordable homes.
The blueprint also show a central green space, green links, community kitchen gardens with raised planters to promote local food growing, a social space designed specifically for teenagers, and a community orchard.
