Suffolk Coastal MP Jenny Riddell-Carpenter has said that she “will encourage local residents to get involved” in the consultation process after Bloor Homes revealed for plans for the huge new estate off Foxhall Road.
The new development, planned to be built to the south of Martlesham Heath, lies on the border of Mrs Riddell-Carpenter’s constituency.

The housing developer behind the project, Bloor Homes, has recently met with residents of Martlesham, Kegrave and Waldringfield to encourage their input into the plans.
An official planning application has yet to be submitted but is expected at the end of the year or the start of 2026, but early plans have stated that up to 1,300 new homes, a new primary school and community spaces will be built.
Mrs Riddell-Carpenter said: “I will be keeping a keen eye on the proposals, and encourage local residents to make sure they get involved in the consultation exercise.

“I would expect and be pushing to see any proposal that comes forward to include a significant number genuinely affordable homes for local families who are struggling to get on the housing ladder, as well real commitment to deliver quality social housing for local families stuck on the housing waiting list.
“What we don’t want is more executive housing that is unaffordable for local families.”
In the UK, affordable housing is defined as homes that are sold at 20% less than the typical market value, with the aim to encourage young people and first-time buyers on to the housing ladder.
