Curtains are a great way to define areas in a room without the need for structural changes. And using leftover fabric from a previous home project will make this hack even more cost-effective. Cut your fabric to the required width and length for the space and attach clip-on curtain rings (ikea.com), then slide them through a dowel rod and secure it to either side of your designated area with nails. 2 GRAB NEW HANDLES
Often referred to as the ‘jewellery’ of the kitchen, a change of handles will revamp your room’s look in a flash. 3 SWITCH UP YOUR SOCKETS

Who said rugs need to remain underfoot? Easily mounted on the wall without the need for a frame, a rug is a textural alternative to pictures and allows you to enjoy its design rather than hide it under furniture. So as not to damage or tear heavy or large ones, avoid hanging them with nails; instead use rug clips or a curtain rod (pictured) for support. Smaller rugs, runners and even patterned throws work well if wall space is at a premium.
5 ADD AN EDGE
The wallpaper border is back. Once placed below cornices and along the top or bottom of a room, the feature is now being used to highlight joinery details or aspects of a room that need some love and attention.
