The biggest gainers of the session on the were Fresnillo PLC (LON:), which rose 3.96% or 22.00 points to trade at 578.00 at the close. St. James’s Place PLC (LON:) added 2.99% or 12.80 points to end at 441.00 and Endeavour Mining PLC (LON:) was up 2.82% or 48.00 points to 1,751.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BAE Systems PLC (LON:), which lost 4.52% or 60.50 points to trade at 1,277.00 in late trade. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:) declined 3.94% or 16.90 points to end at 412.20 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON:) shed 3.75% or 26.20 points to 672.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 932 to 834 and 661 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.36% or 8.50 to $2,359.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.81% or 0.70 to hit $85.73 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.55% or 0.50 to trade at $89.88 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 103.91.
