Homes in and around Great Chesterford have been hit by a power cut. UK Power Networks discovered an outage for 1001 properties in postcode areas CB10, CB22 and SG8 at 1.42pm today (April 15).
Engineers are on their way. UK Power Networks estimate electricity to be restored for every property at some time between 3.30pm and 4.30pm, though some customers may have the issue solved sooner.
A UK Power Networks spokesperson said: “We believe the issue is an overhead network fault that initially interrupted power to 1062 properties. However, we have managed to divert power back to some properties, so 1001 properties are still affected.

“Specialist engineers from our control room will continue to divert power remotely, so your power may come back on at any point. Sometimes we can’t restore everyone this way, so we’re also sending staff to check our equipment.”
The spokesperson also apologised for the disruption caused, and commented: “As this is affecting your area, engineers will not need to attend your property. Rest assured once they arrive, they’ll work as quickly as is safely possible to get your power back on.”
