More than half of Reform UK’s corporate donors are connected to the property, construction and development sectors, according to new analysis of Electoral Commission records.
The research, which was carried out by Byline Times, found that 22 of the 40 companies that have donated to Reform UK since 2019 operate in the property and construction space, representing 55% of the party’s corporate donor base.
The analysis also found that property-related companies have contributed to around £2.42million of the £5.87million received in corporate donations by Reform UK and its predecessor, the Brexit Party, between 2019 and 2026.
Big donors
Among the largest property-related corporate donors identified in the analysis are TISUN Investments Limited, E.I.R.P Limited, J.C. Bamford Excavators Ltd, London AC Ltd and Interior Architecture Landscape Ltd.
Byline Times makes it clear there was no evidence that any company or individual donor had acted improperly, or that Reform‘s policies had been designed to benefit specific businesses.
The news will, however, raise hopes that any Reform Government might take a more informed approach to the property industry.
In its 2024 election programme, the party pledged to “unleash housebuilding” and fast-track housing schemes on brownfield land.
It has also backed planning reforms designed to make it easier for major residential developments to secure approval and reduce delays in the planning system.
Great Repeal Bill
In addition, the party’s Deputy Leader, property developer Richard Tice, has pledged to repeal the Renters’ Rights Act. In a speech earlier this year, he promised a “Great Repeal Bill” that would remove the legislation.
More controversially, Reform has also backed moving migrants out of social housing and into the private sector and tighter regulations for HMOs.
Reform has been approached for comment.
