West Norfolk Council has agreed detailed proposals to redevelop the former Matthews Coaches site at Shouldham, near Downham Market.
Outline permission was granted for the site, off Westgate, in 2022.
A planning officer’s report said: “Five detached dwellings are proposed, comprising two four-bedroom dwellings, one fronting Westgate Street and one to the rear along the south boundary, and three three-bedroom houses positioned in depth to the north of the private driveway.”

It adds the proposed layout offers “limited opportunities” for overlooking or overshadowing of neighbouring properties.
One villager objected. They said the four-bed house was “unwelcome” because there were already many in the village, whose emerging neighbourhood plan identified a need for two and three-bed properties.
The planning report said the neighbourhood plan was not currently at a stage where it had any weight in decision making.
