A planning application for the homes at a site off the B4553 to the south of the town has been submitted to Wiltshire Council.
A public footpath runs through the middle of the site, and the development is planned with houses east and west of the right of way, with a higher density of housing nearer the town, and lower density housing towards the open countryside.
The proposed development is made up of 26 open market dwellings of two, three, four, and five-bedroom houses, along with 17 affordable homes, including one-bedroom flats, a two-bed bungalow, and a mix of two, three, and four-bedroom houses.

Ten would be for social rent, three would be shared ownership, and four would be designated first homes.
Earlier this month Bellway won a six-year planning battle to build 55 houses at nearby Blunsdon.
A decision from Wiltshire Council is expected before January 14.
