Plans for 344 homes and a primary school at Brentwood go before councillors on Tuesday (July 9) with a recommendation for approval.
Brentwood Borough Council’s planning committee will consider a hybrid application by Croudace Homes to develop a 21.32-hectare site known as Officer Meadow.
It is made up of six fields of arable farming land north of Shenfield and is part of a wider allocation of 825 homes which, along with Croudace Homes, is being developed by Countryside Properties, Redrow Homes and Stonebond Properties.
The development of houses and flats, ranging from one to four bedroom properties, will have an affordable housing proportion of 35 per cent and five per cent will be custom built.
A site of 2.1 hectares will be set aside for the two-form entry school which will be accessed at the scheme’s central plaza, an area designed for people to congregate and meet.
There will be four hectares of new parkland and pedestrian and cycle paths which will connect to Shenfield and the railway station.
Croudace Homes states in its application: “The development provides a much-needed variety of new housing, exceeding requirements for sustainability, open space and biodiversity net gain whilst adhering to the principals set out and approved within the National Design Guide and Development Framework document.”
