A housebuilder has been given the go-ahead to build 55 homes in Oxfordshire.
West Oxfordshire District Council has approved an application for the North Leigh site off Akeman Road, near Witney.
The scheme will have a mix of one to five-bedroom properties, including larger detached houses, on the village fringe.
According to the developer Backhouse, 40 per cent of the homes will be classed as affordable.
Five two-bedroom properties are earmarked for the Government’s First Homes scheme, which offers local first-time buyers and key workers a 30 per cent discount on market prices if they can secure a mortgage for at least half the reduced cost.

Documents for the scheme say the development will include air source heat pumps, electric vehicle charging points and cycle storage.
A 10 per cent biodiversity net gain is promised through planting, habitat areas and features such as bird and bat boxes.
A multi-use games area, public green spaces and new pedestrian and cycle links are also planned.
Backhouse says about £600,000 will be paid through Section 106 developer agreements to support education, healthcare, transport and cycling improvements in the area.
Building work is expected to start this month, with the first homes due to be marketed from spring 2027 and residents anticipated to move in the following summer.
