This was revealed by research conducted by Clifton Private Finance, which analysed 80 UK areas.
It found that the average price of a high-end property in Poole is more than £7.3 million.
With the average annual pay in the town being £33,516, it would take 781 years to afford this kind of property.
This makes Poole the second most expensive area in the UK for luxury homes, only beaten by London where it would take 3,416 years.
The research highlights the significant gap between average wages and the cost of high-end properties across the country.
Sam Hodgson, finance expert at Clifton Private Finance, said: “Poole’s figures are especially striking.
“With luxury properties averaging over £7.3 million and a local average salary of £33,516, residents would need 781 years to afford a high-end home, the second longest timeframe in the UK.
“What’s particularly interesting is that in cities where high-end property is more ‘affordable’ in terms of time needed, we’re still talking about multiple lifetimes of saving.
“Even in West Bromwich, which ranks as the most affordable, we’re looking at 56 years.”
