Commercial property estate agent, Naylors Gavin Black, has acquired a prime convenience store in Windermere in a multimillion-pound acquisition on behalf of London-based Ashworth Investments Management.
Partner, Fergus Laird, brokered a deal to buy the supermarket which is let to Sainsbury’s and situated in one of the principal tourist destinations of the Lake District National Park.
The 8,537 sq ft property, on Main Road, is one of only three food stores in Windermere, a town that attracts around 300,000 tourists on a peak summer weekend.
The investment is the latest addition to Ashworth’s expanding commercial property portfolio.
Showing commitment to the site, Sainsbury’s has recently signed a 15-year unbroken lease with RPI rent reviews for the store.
Partner at Naylors Gavin Black, Fergus Laird said: “Investments like this are incredibly rare in the Lake District and this opportunity has the sought-after benefit of a car park and trades seven days a week.”
Naylors Gavin Black worked alongside fellow commercial property network member, Simon Adam Peill and Co. in Kendal. Andrew Scott at Mason Owen and Partners was the seller’s agent. Mincoffs handled the legals for the buyer.
Fergus added: “This is the third investment we have secured for Ashworth IM, who have been very active in the market recently.”
