The Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter (MIMHC) has formally become a not-for-profit foundation, marking an “important milestone in its mission”.
The MIMHC was founded in 2021 and is dedicated to improving mental health and wellbeing in the mortgage industry. It offers support through research, education, collaboration and events that “supports signatories and industry partners to foster environments where people can thrive personally and professionally”.
It currently has 253 member firms and a reach to over 25,000 individuals.
Becoming a foundation means it can receive pledges and donations to support its activities and events that aim to raise awareness, provide education and promote positive mental health practices.
Jason Berry (pictured), the MIMHC’s co-founder, said: “The overwhelming support we’ve received from across the mortgage market has been truly inspiring. Forming the MIMHC Foundation ensures we can build on that goodwill in a structured, sustainable way. It allows us to fund meaningful activity, deliver more impact, and continue helping firms and individuals make mental health a core part of their culture.”
Berry also extended his gratitude to Andy Frankish and the MAB Foundation for their generosity in covering the costs associated with establishing the new foundation.

He added: “Andy and the MAB Foundation’s support has been instrumental in making this next step possible. As we act on the recommendations from our MIMHC 2025 White Paper Survey, this new structure equips us to better serve the mortgage community and drive long-term positive change.”
As part of its next phase, ‘Foundation Focus’, the MIMHC will focus on turning “words into action, building healthier workplaces, stronger leaders and a more connected industry community”, Berry said.
This includes six goals focusing on:
- Promoting healthier balance
- Empowering confident leadership
- Embedding wellbeing in business
- Building stronger connections
- Strengthening personal resilience
- Sustaining long-term impact
