Not only remigration, zero tolerance for crimes and an end to economic and military aid to Ukraine. And Skock’s remark on femicide. But also a green light for second-generation nuclear power; an end to renewable energy incentives on energy bills; the abolition of the Green Deal and the carbon tax; lower taxes for SMEs with a flat-rate scheme; a “Tricolore mortgage” for first-time buyers; a family allowance, with a drastic reduction in income tax for each child (“we prefer productive maternity income to unproductive universal basic income”); increased tax relief for sporting activities, regardless of income. And sport for all, because it is an investment in personal wellbeing and a guarantee of spending less money on treating illnesses.
The founding assembly of Futuro Nazionale also provides an opportunity for a broader presentation of the party’s programme on the economy, taxation, business and employment (as well as justice, healthcare and culture). A programme first outlined by Lorenzo Gasperini (a former Lega councillor who had a change of heart following Roberto Vannacci’s example), who concluded by quoting Giorgio Almirante (“The right is either courage or it is nothing”). It was then elaborated in detail by the general himself. Meanwhile, former Lega member Domenico Furgiuele (who had ‘hosted’ the press conference in the Chamber of Deputies on the remigration proposed by groups such as Casapound) revives the term ‘camerata’, using it to greet the audience.
Lower taxes for SMEs
It starts with tax cuts. Vannacci says he is in favour of economic development based on recognising merit, and on ‘reducing the tax burden on workers and businesses’. At the heart of this is the promotion of SMEs, “which account for 96% of the national economy and provide a strategic boost to the nation’s economy. Hence the proposal for a ‘single flat-rate tax for small and medium-sized enterprises’”. “If it works for the self-employed, why shouldn’t it work for small and medium-sized enterprises?”, asks Vannacci.
Latest-generation nuclear power
On the energy front, Futuro Nazionale wants to see “the roll-out of next-generation nuclear power”. But “we want to be free to buy energy from whoever sells it to us at the best price”, explains Vannacci, who is therefore leaving the door open to purchasing oil and gas from Russia. More focus then on hydroelectric power (“we must build more dams”) and incentives for biomass. An end to renewable energy incentives on electricity bills. No to the phasing out of coal-fired power stations
The ‘Tricolore’ mortgage and the suspension of the immigration quota decree
The slogan “Italia per gli italiani” also translates into the “introduction of a citizenship requirement for social housing”. But also into what is described as the “tricolour mortgage for first-time buyers”. In practice, this is a state-guaranteed mortgage (with interest rates varying according to the number of children). Vannacci also calls for an end to the immigration quota decree and the revocation of citizenship for those who commit crimes. He then sets the proportion of immigrants 4% who should be admitted to Italia (provided they assimilate into the national culture and values). According to the FnV leader, ‘with over 12% of foreigners on national soil, cultural homogeneity is already compromised; the overlap of different civilisations and cultures generates schizophrenic individuals’.
