SAN JOSE — A Southern California real estate group has added to its collection of hospitality hubs in the South Bay with its purchase of a San Jose hotel.
The Super 8 by Wyndham hotel at 2050 N. First St. in north San Jose has been bought for $8 million, according to documents filed on June 2 with the Santa Clara County Recorder’s Office.
Kalthia Group Hotels, acting through an affiliate, bought the 88-room Super 8, the county real estate records show.
The hotel occupies a prominent spot on a busy street next to a light rail line.
San Diego-based Kalthia Group, a hotel investment and management firm, has been active in recent months with purchases of hotels in the South Bay.
In December 2025, Kalthia Group paid $16 million for the 114-room Sonesta ES Suites San Jose Airport hotel at 1602 Crane Court in north San Jose.
A day later, also in December, Kalthia paid $15 million for a 138-room Sonesta ES Suites hotel at 900 Hamlin Court in Sunnyvale.
Earlier in 2025, Kalthia floated a preliminary proposal to convert the rooms at the Sonesta Suites ES hotel in San Jose into housing. The status of this proposal wasn’t immediately clear.
These deals have occurred at a time when plunging values, loan defaults and even foreclosures haunt the Bay Area hotel market.
