A spate of recent burglaries and attempted burglaries in North West Leicestershire could all be linked, say Leicestershire Police. The force has now launched a CCTV appeal to aid investigations.
Properties in Ashby were targeted as well as addresses in Hugglescote and Whitwick, near Coalville. The majority happened last Wednesday (May 15) and were reported to police.
A property in Whitwick’s Templars Way was one of the first hit, sometime between 1.30pm and 5.30pm. Money and jewellery were taken during the break-in.

Police also confirmed that at around 5pm the same day a man was seen trying the back door of a house in Whitwick’s King Richards Hill. Just 30 minutes later, two men were seen attempting to try the back door of a house in Ashby’s Trinity Close.
Officers are also investigating reports of two men seen trying front doors and car doors in Hugglescote’s Blackham Road in the early hours of last Thursday (May 16). Leicestershire Police says it believes all these incidents are connected, with investigations ongoing and police calling for vigilance from the public.
Detective Inspector Parminder Dhillon said: “I’d ask our communities in North West Leicestershire to remain vigilant and ensure their homes and vehicles are secure.
“Our enquiries into these incidents, which we believe may be linked, are continuing and I would like to speak to anyone who thinks they can help. I’m particularly keen to speak to any residents with doorbell, CCTV or dashcam footage. If you heard or saw anyone acting in a manner that seemed unusual, suspicious or that caught your attention, please get in touch. Anything you’re able to tell us could be key.”
Anyone with information about any of the incidents should call Leicestershire Police on 101. Alternatively, provide information on the force’s website.
