Welcome to the final edition of Mortgage and Property Magazine for 2023 and what a hectic year it has been. Interest rates soaring, the market in a whirlwind and new Consumer Duty regulation coming into force; advisers and brokers have barely had a moment to catch breath in what has likely been one of the more challenging years of many people’s careers.
However, as we head into a new year and with the storm showing signs of settling, there is hope that the next year can only be better than the last. Of course, there is still so much uncertainty but with interest rates calming and the market beginning to ease, there are signs that things are looking up.
In this month’s edition…
Before we all put our feet up and enjoy a much-deserved Christmas rest, Mortgage and Property Magazine has one last offering of the latest news and insight for you to take into the new year.
First up, Moneyfacts take a look back at a hectic 2023 and reviews the mortgage market over the last 12 months. Their mortgage experts analyse how all the key elements of the UK market faired in the last year.
Ingenious’ Tom Brown then dusts down his crystal ball and considers the opportunities and challenges that may present themselves in the year ahead.
Finally, Dan Castling from Atom Bank dives into how his team are utilising technology to speed up the time taken to move from mortgage applications to mortgage offer.
Our latest podcast
Once you’ve digested the latest analysis from the magazine, I’d like to point you in the direction of our recent M&P IFA Talk Special podcast that saw Saffron for Intermediaries’ Tony Hall discuss the popularity of custom and self-build homes and their influence on the property market.
